About TIPs
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has developed web-based open manufacturing technology innovation platforms under the ongoing Capital Goods Scheme. These platforms help bring all of India’s technical resources and the concerned industry onto one platform to identify technology problems and crowdsource solutions. This supports startups and funding of Indian innovations. Key ‘mother’ manufacturing technologies will be developed indigenously through ‘Grand Challenges’ to achieve the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and a globally competitive manufacturing sector in India.
Shri Prakash Javadekar, the then Hon'ble Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, inaugurated (virtually) the Technology Innovation Platforms in the presence of Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, the then MoS HI&PE, and Shri Arun Goel, Secretary, Heavy Industry on Friday, 2nd July 2021 at 11:00 AM.
Six Technology Platforms have been developed by IIT Madras, CMTI, iCAT, ARAI, BHEL, and HMT in association with IISc Bangalore. These platforms focus on the development of globally competitive manufacturing technologies in India. The platforms enable OEMs, Tier 1/2/3 companies, raw material manufacturers, start-ups, domain experts, R&D institutions, and academia to provide solutions, suggestions, and expert opinions on manufacturing issues. Over 76,000 students, experts, institutes, industries, and labs have already registered on these platforms.
